    Alan Boyd Barker
    May 26 1957 to August 4 2018

    Alan Boyd Barker, 61, passed away on Saturday August 4th, 2018 from heart failure. Alan was born May 26th, 1957 in Brigham City, Utah. He was the eldest son of Boyd Melvin Barker and Ida Elsa Kunzler Barker. He attended Purche Ave Elementary, Henry Clay Junior High, Weber High, Weber State University, Stevens Henager College, and Utah College of Massage Therapy. He was active in scouting and achieved his Eagle Scout award. He served on an LDS mission in Tahiti, where he spent most of his time on Rarotonga. He learned French and Tahitian at the language center and learned Moiri in the field.

    Alan married his high school sweetheart Valerie Maw on March 17th, 1979 and they were sealed in the Manti Temple on June 11 th , 1980. He ran his own business named A&K Wood Products and built solid wood furniture, waterbed pedestals, bookshelves, and toy cars, trucks, and trains. He also worked briefly for Deseret Industries. After graduating from the Utah College of Massage therapy, he operated his business Magic Fingers Massage from 1996 to 2001. He worked for over 25 years for the IRS beginning as a carpenter, then doing maintenance, and finally becoming a tax examiner.

    Alan had many interests and talents including: roofing, framing, shingling, excavating with a backhoe, laying carpet, pouring cement, repairing cars, gardening, building and installing
    kitchen cabinets and countertops, and scuba diving. If he needed something done that he had not done before, he would look it up and learn how to do it himself.

    Alan is survived by his mother Ida Elsa Kunzler Barker, his wife Valerie Maw Barker, and his children Holly (Jeremy) Arends, Barry O. Barker, Shelly Barker, Randy O. (Desire é) Barker, Max Barker, and Danny Alan (Brooke) Barker. He loved his grandchildren Sarah Kimberly, Abigail Rose, Lilly Grace Barker, and Alexander Ryan Arends very much.

    He was preceded in death by his father Melvin Boyd Barker.

    Funeral services will be held on Friday August 10th at 11am in the Clearfield North Stake center, 151 N 1000 W Clearfield, Utah 84015. A viewing will also be held on Thursday August 9th from 6-8pm at the same location.

    Interment Willard Cemetery.
