    Description: I apologize for so many suggestions This website is absolutely Awesome I only had our Maw family traced to 1645You have filled on sooooo many holes I am truly grateful!! I have the Gravestone of My great great grandparents Henry and Mary(Maw) Holmes where should I submit I still have not found a Nancy but Mary's middle name is Nancy so could be the same person|?     Comments: Hello I am a descendent of one of the Maw Family that Came to Canada Other than my direct lineage from Jacob and Susannah (Smith) Maw my g-g-g grandparents and before Thomas and Sarah(Sanderson)Maw my g-g-g-g grandparents and so on back to Thomas Maw and wife Dorothy maiden name unknown I could be of some help to you concerning the descendents of Jacob and Susannah that came to Canada ;) I grew up in Blenheim Ontario near McKay's Corners which is located in between Howard and Harwich Townships which are pretty close in Fact some of the Maws lived on The Howard side and some on the Harwich side also Some in Bothwell ontario also near where I grew up I am now in Windsor Ontario Canada which is still only about an hour away Most of my Holmes Family still live in Blenheim Chatham and Bothwell pretty much in the Raleigh Howard and Harwich Townships I did not find my G-G grandma Mary on your site but All of her Canadian brothers and sisters are on your site ;0 The earli! est pioneers of McKays were the Maws Clarke Holmes Galbraiths and McKays Corners which was known as simply Harwich before Alexander McKay moved his business to the corners in 1840s All these families were there in the 1850s and I am in one way or another related to All of them through my Holmes/Maw lineage I see A Nancy Maw on your site Born 1850 but I Have not found a Nancy yet here in Canada. I do have ALL the others in my family history Milcah Jacob and Thomas you have a blank Maw in the family which could be Thomas and also your Nancy could be my G-G grandma Mary she was born January 2nd 1852 and her birthplace unknown but parents were from Lancanshire England ;) I have curiously not done a whole lot of research on my Maw family line since starting my Children's family research in 1992 when my oldest child was born. Likely my reason for that is because my grandfather already had our lineage back to 1656 ;0 given to Him by a cousin William Maw ;)So I was content with tha! t info. But often times when I hit a roadblock on my Ancestors! I then try to find as many of the descendents of those ancestors I started doing more research Jacob and Susannah just this weekend Oddly enough. I took several pictures of Gravestones at Mc Kay's corners which is sadly now pretty much an abandoned sublet ;( Not many business remain open and or for sale ;( Sad because apparently it was booming back in the 1850s 60s 70s 80s My Holmes great grandfather James and my grandfather Uriel and my Dad William were ALL born and raised in McKay's My G-G-G grandfather Henry was one of the youngest of 13 children of Jabez and Rosanna(McLaughlin) born in Chatham Ontario the Holmes family owned and operated several grist mills in Chatham.In 1853 Jabez and 6 of his children moved to The area now known as McKay's corners. He started some combo Saw and Grist Mills there,Sadly many mishaps happened to the Holmes Family;( Jabez Himself was killed by a board that flew from a saw and one of his sons was killed when a log rolled on him When Henr! y was young he fell in love and married Mary Maw who also in later years owned and operated the popular corner store They had 9 children their first being named after her grandmother Sarah I have several documents and Info from My extensive research on my Children's lines go back to the 1600s of course I can't do as we ALL know without the help of other genealogists and cousins ;)I have boxes and boxes of info pictures and books of ALL most of their lines Long story short we can help each other I am hoping that the only reason you dont have ALL the info on our Canadian Maw family is because you are from England.     BEDFORD, Mary Elizabeth - a resident of Ridgetown and formerly R.R. #4, Chatham, died Sunday October 21, 2007 at the Village Retirement Residence at the age of 96. Born in Howard Township daughter of the late Samuel & Mary (Winter) Holmes. Mrs. Bedford was a former member of Oakmount Community Club, Bethel Church and Park St. United Church. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Douglas Bedford (1991). Dear mother of Elizabeth DeHoey, R.R. #3, Kent Bridge and her husband the late Edward DeHoey (1999). Also pre-deceased by one son Kenneth Bedford (2003). Mother-in-law of Helen Bedford, RR #4, Chatham. Grandmother of Mary Ann Myers (Warren); Janice Havens (Rob); Bonnie Gotelaer (Peter); David DeHoey (Louise Kelly); Virginia Laprise (Claud); Jennifer Masse (Donat) and Amanda Bedford. Great Grandmother of Matthew, Kristen, Kyle, Jillian, Rebecca, Valerie, Jamie, and Aaren. Sister of the late Frank Holmes and two infant brothers. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    HOLMES, William George - A resident of Blenheim, Bill Holmes passed away at Windsor Regional Hospital, on Tuesday March 20, 2018 at the age of 82. Born in Blenheim, Ontario on May 5, 1935, Bill was the son of the late James and Olive (nee Ramsdale) Holmes. Beloved husband of 54 years to Marjorie Patricia "Midge" (nee Latford). Loving father of Kevin Holmes (Holly) of Amherstburg and Terry Holmes (Amy) of Windsor. Proud grandfather of Joel (Rachel) and Jesse (Christina); Karli (Mike), Matthew, Brittany and Alyssa. Great-grandfather to Elise, Adele and Maddie. Dear brother of the late Robert of Chatham, Fred (Wendy) of Blenheim, Gord of Blenheim and Tom of Blenheim. Will be missed by his nieces, nephews and the Latford family. Bill worked for Canadian Tire in Chatham for 30 years. He was an active member of the Blenheim Seniors Centre, the Blenheim Baptist Church Choirs. Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Saturday March 24, 2018 from 1:00pm until the Funeral Service at 3:00pm with Rev. Bill Terris officiating.
