Henry B. Dance

WEST WEBER - (Weber County) - Henry B. Dance, 82, prominent stockman and farmer of West Weber died Thursday morning in the family home after a long illness.
Mr. Dance was born Aug. 27, 1870 in Durham, England, a son of William and Frances Battensby Dance. He came to the United States when he was 4 and had resided in West Weber most of his life. As a hobby he raised shorthorn cattle. During his lifetime he had imported several purebred horses from his native England.
On March 12, 1889, he married Margaret Etherington in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She died Feb, 4, 1949.
A member of the West Weber LDS Ward, Mrs. Dance had served as Sunday School superintendent many years and as a high priest. He was active in civic affairs in West Weber.
Surviving are four sons and two daughters: Henry T. Dance, Riverdale, Weber County; W. Lee Dance, Oakland, Cal.; John E. Dance, West Weber; Floyd Dance, Wilson Lane, Weber County; Mrs. Earl (Margaret) Etherington and Mrs. Frances Maw, Ogden; 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in Lindquist and Sons' Mortuary Chapel by C. Milton Farr, Bishop. West Weber LDS Ward. Friends may call at the Mortuary Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and at the family home Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Ogden City Cemetery.

R. John (Johnnie) Maw

Roy John Maw passed away peacefully April 18, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. Johnnie was born April 5, 1926 in Plain City to Rufus and Frances Dance Maw. He grew up working for the family business and attended Weber County Schools. He interrupted his high school education to join the U.S. Navy when he was 17, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. John retired from the civil service at Hill Air Force Base. He has spent his retirement farming, raising beef cattle, and raising and racing Quarter Horses.

John married his junior high sweetheart, Norma Jean Folkman in the Salt Lake Temple on May 10, 1946. They have lived their entire married life in Plain City. In May, they would have been married 71 years.

John was active in the LDS Church, where he was a High Priest and served in several positions.

Johnnie was a devoted family man. His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you ask anyone them, they will tell you they were his favorite. "Gramps" showered them with Smarties, Twenty Dollar Bills and Love.

Johnnie is survived by his sweetheart, Norma Jean; his children; Dan (Uraina) Maw, Joel (Dawn) Maw, Cindy Maw, and Karen (Martin) Denney. They have 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and 3 more on the way. Also surviving is his sister Karole Crompton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Taylor and brother Junior B. Maw.

The family wishes to offer a special thanks to Hospice Care of Northern Utah, most especially Ashley, Ronal, Nancy and Eileen for their compassionate care of our beloved "Gramps".

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday April 24, 2017, at the Plain City 2nd Ward, 2952 N 4200 W in Plain City. A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday April 23, 2017, from 6 to 8 pm and prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment in Plain City Cemetery with Military Honors accorded.

Mr. Maw's cunning wit and friendly smile will be greatly missed by his family and friends
