Notes:

My grandfather was a professional musician and studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London from Jan 1909 until Dec. 1911. Why or when he went to South Africa after 1911 I have no idea, presumably to work. He met my grandmother in Cape Town, married and my mother was born there in 1919. They lived in Cape Town until 1929 when they came to the U.K. South Africa seems to be a "no go" area - a copy of my mother's birth certificate, my Grandmother's birth certificate and my grandparents marriage certificate seems impossible to obtain. My grandmother had 6 sisters in South Africa, so there is a lot of information to be had and no family left to ask! I've hit the proverbial brick wall!!
