Mrs. Alberta L. Strickland, 83, who was born in England, and was an active Red Cross worker in Portland during World War II, died Monday.

Born in Doncaster, England, July 27, 1884, she came to the United States 60 years ago. Five years later, she moved to Portland.

She was a member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church and a former member of the Earl Haig Chapter, Daughters of the British Empire.

Mrs. Strickland, who formerly lived at 1930 NE 11th Ave., died at the Parkview Nursing Home.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gladys M. Simmons, Vancouver, B.C., and Mrs. Phyllis Melzain, Orchard Lake, Mich.; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
