    God took home James Maw, 62, of Grand Island Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Sample officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

    James was born on September 12, 1950 in Aurora, Nebraska to Don and Romona (Nelson) Maw. He grew up in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School. James served in the United States Army from August 1969 and was honorable discharged August 1975. He married Kathy Slocum on March 8, 2002.

    James worked at the grain elevator in Giltner for many years and loved music and wood working. He was a people person who loved to spend time with family and friends. He was a dedicated husband and son who will be greatly missed.

    He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Jess Maw; two sons by marriage Jeremy and David Jewett all of Grand Island; mother, Romona of York, NE, sister, Carlla (Dennis) Eastman of York; and many loved nieces and great nieces.

    James was preceded in death by his father, Don; grandparents, uncles and aunts.
