    I found your website when I Googled "Elton Villas" looking for some information on one of my relations and came up with the page for Jane Elizabeth Maw Born 1861 in York. She was working as a nursemaid/servant at Elton Villas. This information was from the 1881 census. The family she was working for, The Wilsons, is the family I was researching. The youngest child in the family in 1881, Emily, was to grow up and marry my 1st Cousin 3 times removed. Distant I know but he was/is one of the more interesting characters in my tree. His name was Sydney West Harris and was to become Sir Sydney West Harris C.B. C.V.O. He worked for many years as the Permanent Secretary in the home office and when he retired he was for a few years chairman of the British Board of Film Censors. I have my own website with my family tree on it www.wildsofsipson.co.uk but as I have only recently found the parent's of Sydney's wife I have yet too upload an updated version of it although Sydney him! self is on it along with his parents.

    Just thought you may be interested in a little of the real life of Jane.
