    Jean S. Barker BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving wife, mother and step mother, and grandmother, Jean S. Barker, 74, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at Pioneer Care Center. Jean had lived well with metastatic breast cancer to the spine and bones for over four years. She was born on May 5, 1929, in Anaconda, Montana, a daughter of William and Anne May Staker Searcy. Jean married Brian G. Utley in 1955, in Ogden, Utah. They were later divorced. Jean married Bobby Dean Barker on January 22,1977, in Ogden LDS Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jean served as Relief Society President, organist, as well as other church positions, and she generously donated time as head of the Soup Kitchen in Brigham City. Jean had worked at Hill Air Force Base, IRS and Weber State University. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano and organ, quilting, knitting and crocheting and she shared those talents with others. Surviving are her husband, Bobby of Brigham City; three daughters: Dianna Simpson, Ogden; Clair (Dennis) Brown, Roy; Corinne (Jerry) Ortega, Mission, Texas; one step son, Darryl (Sherrie) Barker, Perry; two step daughters, Karen (Larry) Peterson, Arvada, Colorado; Mary (Gordon) Peck, Clinton; 26 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Searcy, one sister, Karen Maw, both of Plain City. Her parents preceded her in death. The family would like to express their gratitude to hospice who provided care and comfort to Jean and gave their support to the family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12, at 11 a.m. at the Brigham City Central Ward, 506 South 200 East, Brigham City, with Bishop Phil Jeppsen officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gillies-Petersen Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, and on Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.     Karen Searcy Maw, 80, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014.

    She was born on October 17, 1934 in Teton, ID, the daughter of William John and Annie May Staker Searcy.

    She married the love of her life, Floyd A. Maw on April 29, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

    Karen was a faithful servant and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in two Relief Society Presidencies, in Young Womens and as a Chorister. She served faithfully as a temple worker in the Ogden LDS Temple with her husband and as a service missionary.

    She worked for Sears, but her greatest job was being a dedicated wife and mother.

    Karen enjoyed embroidery and was passionate about keeping a journal and writing. She loved cats and stuffed animals. Karen and Floyd loved square-dancing together. She was a great cook and a hard worker.

    Karen is survived by her husband, Floyd A. Maw: children, Gary S. Maw, Valerie M. (Alan) Barker, AnnaLee (Jerry) Olsen, Joyce M. (Scott) Dean, Kenny (Leisha) Maw, and Richard "Ricky" (Jolene) Maw: 34 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Dirk Dee Maw and sister, Jean Barker.

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Farr West Poplar Stake Center, 1800 West 1800 North, Farr West. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.

    Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
