MAW -- John L. Maw, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 5, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Martha Maw; son, Charles Maw and wife Erin, daughter, Christina Maw; grandchildren, Charles John (CJ) and Harley Maw; brothers, Carl Maw and wife Gayle and Kent Maw and wife Wanda; mother-in-law Arvilla Poindexter; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Maw and Florence Heninger; brothers, Robert Maw and Neal Maw. John retired from the Air Force and was a 100% disabled veteran. Carl Walter Maw, 71, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 of complications from Agent Orange. He was born on July 4, 1945 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Lawrence and Florence Poorte Maw.

He loved the freedoms we enjoy and followed the example of several family members and served our Country in the Military.

Carl married Gayle McKinney on August 16, 1963 in Wyoming.

He worked at the IRS for 16 years, drove a truck for Parsons, worked at DDO, before retiring from Hill Air Force Base.

Carl had a great memory, was a perfectionist, was very generous, and yet stubborn. He enjoyed building and had countless ongoing projects. He loved to teach and encourage education; he especially enjoyed teaching his boys how to fix things. Most of all he loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

Carl is survived by his wife, Gayle; children, John (Tami) Maw and William (Lorie) Maw; son-in-law, John Shephard; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brother, Kent.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Ann Shephard; parents, and brothers, John, Neal, and Robert.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

Kent Jay Maw, 73, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, June 25, 2020. He was born on March 9, 1947 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Florence B. Poorte and Lawrence W. Maw.

On August 27, 1970, Kent married the love of his life and eternal companion, Wanda Toponce. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple on January 6, 1990. Together they raised three loving children, Charlene (Greg) Wibert, Louisa (Jared) Heninger, and Michael Maw.

He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 23 years and served his country in the military (Army and Navy Seabees) for 24 years.

Kent was generous, kind, hardworking, and had a great sense of humor. His family was his first priority and he would do anything for them. Kent wanted to make sure his children were happy and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed helping others.

Kent loved to take vacations with his family to various places. Yellowstone and Disneyland were his favorites. He loved the mountains and outdoors.

He enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was fixing a car, remodeling his house, or building things.

Kent is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Wanda, Ogden, his three Children Charlene (Greg) Wibert, Roy; Louisa (Jared) Heninger, Washington Terrace; and Michael Maw, Ogden; 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: his brothers John, Neal, Carl, and Robert; his granddaughter Alexa; and great-granddaughter Karlee Rae.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Laurie Ann Shephard, 47, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at McKay-Dee Hospital.

She was born April 10, 1964 in Ogden, Utah to Carl Walter and Gayle McKinney Maw.

On September 27, 1986, Laurie married John Lance Shephard in Ogden, Utah.

She was a tax consultant for Ernst & Young Accounting, following 20 years with the IRS as a Complex Interest Specialist.

Her biggest priority in life was her family. She loved watching her children excel in their sporting events. She was her son's #1 fan at his baseball games. And Laurie's daughter was her favorite author. She loved animals. She enjoyed singing and loved to share her musical talents with everyone.

Laurie is survived by her husband, John, their children, Cole and Tess, all of West Haven; her parents, Carl and Gayle, Farr West; ; father-in-law, Neil, Roy; two brothers, John (Tami) Maw, Farr West; William (Lorie) Maw, Plain City; one niece and five nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Earl and Alta McKinney, Lawrence and Florence Maw, and mother-in-law, Evelyn Shephard.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3rd at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

The family will meet with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
