  BOYERS There are Boyers in the area going back into the late 1500s. The ones that I am sure about are: Robert Boyers (b. about 1710) Married Ann Coates about 1730 but I haven't found any record of this marriage, though I would expect it to be in Carlton. Children of Robert and Ann +John Boyers was bapt 2 November by Private ceremony, received into the congregation December 9th 1735 Carlton. He is sometimes described as a farmer sometimes labourer. (Carlton parish transcripts) Mary bapt 1738 +John Boyers married Martha Ward 26 August 1771 Hemingbrough (I know this is the right John, see below^^, but he was quite old, 36 at time of marriage, but I can't find any details of another previous marriage) ( Martha Ward was born 1748, died 1797, her parents John Ward, a tailor, and Mary Connoy, married 1743 IGI) their children: Thomas chr 26 Nov 1771 Hemingborough John chr 26 June 1774 Carlton Juxta Snaith Ann chr 26 Oct 1776 Carlton Juxta Snaith (Ann married Jonathan Reynolds, farmer in Carlton in 1796. Have copy of his will) ?Agnes bapt unknown, married Thomas Colbridge 24 Jan 1831 in Thorne (I think their child William Colbridge age 2 is on the 1841 census that shows Lydia Boyers) Unfortunately the 1841 census has gaps in the indexing as they aren't on it, I only found them by trawling through page by page. I think maybe Agnes wasn't a child of John and Martha - too old in 1831 to marry and have children unless she was born very late eg 1790 and even then… but she fits in somewhere!) **Robert (third son) born 1783 ^^(In the Carlton parish records I found: in 1783 " Bapt **Robert third son to John Boyers, labourer, son of Robert Boyers, Farmer by Ann his wife, daughter of William Coates, Butcher of Carlton, Mother, Martha, daughter of John Ward, taylor (sic) of Osgarby, by Mary his wife. Robert born Sept 9 1783, bapt Sept 14 1783." What a brilliant vicar!) **Robert Boyers, Farmer of Carlton Juxta Snaith married Joanna Wilkinson, Whitgift, Yorkshire 7 May 1807 (Joanna was chr. 11 October 1783, Whitgift, father Edward) Their children: Jane born 1808 chr 16 March (I think she died young) Henry born 1811 butcher of Thorne (bachelor) John born 1816 possibly died 1824 Thomas born 1818 died 1872 butcher of Thorne (unmarried)(memorial card) (Left £65 to be paid in weekly installments of 5 shillings to brother Henry, Robert and sister Lydia) Martha born 1819 bapt 24 July died 1820 *Robert born 1821 chr 3 feb Died 1872 Thorne, Farmer, Horse Marine, Married widower Eleanor Maw nee O'Connor. Issue Joanna, Jane, Ellen. (Robert left estate under £800) Edward born 1822 Thorne, married in Oustfleet possibly. Lydia born 1825 chr April 9 1837. Died 1885. Lydia married by license in Thorne Register Office 11 April 1850 Charles Marsdin, vet. surgeon They lived in Back Street, Thorne and later in King Street, Thorne.
