  Different Birth Places in different Censi: 1841 > Yorkshire 1851 > Mortin Sordship, Yorks 1861 > Sherriff Shilton, Yorks = Sheriff Hutton where his wife came from and where he also married. 1871 > Martin, Yorks All this leads us to believe that he is the William Maw who was christened on 06 Nov 1812 in Marton Cum Moxby, Yorkshire, England which is less then 4 miles away from Sherriff Hutton. IGI mentions that Williams mother is Mary Walkington. I can however not find any marriage between Bartholomew Maw and her.
