- WILLIAM "BILL"'S OBITUARY
William "Bill" H. Wells, 91, of Port Orange, Florida passed away peacefully on March 07, 2014. He was born October 01, 1922 in Middletown, Ohio to James and Carmie (Wells) Miles. Bill married Dorothy Maw, formerly of Island Pond who predeceased him in February 2001. Bill worked as a foreman at Manchester Machine Company in Middleton, Ohio. He served his country in the United States Marines as a SSGT during the Korean War where he was a mail currier and was also on the honor guard detail at the Arlington National Cemetery. Bill belonged to the Masonic Lodge F & AM #44 in Island Pond and received many awards for junior achievement. William loved to fish with his buddies Gordon and McGee in Vermont as well as with his buddies Henry, Al, and Tony in Florida. He enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, bowling, and playing softball with his shop team in Ohio. He is survived by his sister-in-law Muriel Maw O'Gorman of Island Pond, VT, his niece Cathy O'Gorman Kinney and her husband Al of Island Pond, VT, great niece Kalli Lefebvre and her husband Caleb, great-great niece Rylan of Westmore, VT, nephew James O'Gorman and his wife Christine, great nephews Austin of Rutland, VT, Michael O'Gorman of San Diego, CA, and Quincy O'Gorman of Island Pond, and special friend and caregiver Todd Heffington of Port Orange, Florida. He was predeceased his wife Dorothy Wells, his brother James, and his sisters Margaret, Eleanor, and Gerry, nephew Mark O'Gorman, and great niece Taini Kinney. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond, Vermont with Muriel O'Gorman officiating with full military honors.
