Denis Anthony Mitchison was born on 6 September 1919.1 He is the son of Gilbert Richard Mitchison, Baron Mitchison and Naomi May Margaret Haldane.1 He married Ruth Sylvia Gill, daughter of Hubert A. Gill, on 9 September 1940.1 He was educated at Abbotsholme School, Rocester, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, England .1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England , with a Bachelor of Surgery (B.Chir.).1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England , with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.).1 He was registered as a Licentiate, Royal College of Physicians, London (L.R.C.P.) in 1943.1 He was Professor of Bacteriology at Royal Post Graduate Medical School, London, England .1 He was registered as a Member, Royal College of Surgeons (M.R.C.S.).1 He had two sons and two daughters.1 Citations [S21 ] L.
