Funeral Servcies for Donald Ray Maw, age 84, of O'Neill, NE will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in O'Neill. Burial will be in the O'Neill Cemetery with Flag Presentation by the O'Neill American Legion Simonson Post #93. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Memorials may be given to the Church. Don passed away Friday, February 14, 2014, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Don was born on February 26, 1929 in Creston, NE to Robert H. and Minnie (Bridges) Maw. He attended school in Creston until the age of 8 when his family moved to Columbus, NE. He graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1946. Don served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. In August of 1953 Don moved to O'Neill and started working for Motor Parts, Inc. He was manager and part owner for 46 years, retiring in 1999. Throughout his career Don was dedicated to serving the O'Neill community and spent a lot of time taking care of customers all hours of the day. He met Peggy Alm at the United Methodist Church in O'Neill and on July 15, 1956 they were united in marriage at the church they met in.
Don was a long- time member of the United Methodist Church. He was very active in the church, serving on a number of boards and holding many church offices. He served as lay leader for many pastors over the years and sang in the church choir for 50 years. Don was also a very dedicated Sunday School teacher, teaching 5th and 6th graders as well as adults for close to 60 years. In his spare time Don was a small planes Pilot and served on the O'Neill Airport Authority Board. He also enjoyed family time, going on outdoor expeditions with his family, working on cars and wood working.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Peggy, daughter, Lorraine Maw of Lexington, KY, son, Chuck and wife Debbie of Bourbonnais, IL, a sister Ardith Greenquist of San Jose, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 6 sisters.

Donald Ray "Don" Maw, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Neraska. Don was born on February 26, 1929 in Creston, Nebraska to Robert H. and Minnie Marion (Bridges) Maw.
