Description: ...Just a snippet from my researches..
"On November 20, 1969 Clifford DOWSON was a passenger on a flight from Oxford House Manitoba to Island Lake Manitoba. The pilot of the Cessna 185 was John W. BURTON and Edward FLETT was also on board. Around 11:00am the pilot made a routine call stating that they would be landing in Garden Hill in 15 minutes. The airplane did not arrive at its destination. The wreckage and all three on board were never located.

"Cliff was a POW - captured at Dieppe and spent his time in a German concentration camp. [His son] Reg was named after his dad's favourite friend who, when released from the camp, with a height of over 6' weighed about 100 lbs. His father [Cliff] was fluent in German and was recruited to inform the German prisoners that the war was over and they were free - but not sure where - I had the feeling that it was in Canada. We had several camps here." From Mary H by email January 22 2010
