Death: Jun. 11, 2012
Ruth Mary Maw Taylor passed away peacefully on June 11, 2012.
Ruth was born on March 29, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert and Mary Maw. She married her eternal sweetheart Benjamin Mahonri Taylor on June 26, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were the parents of 10 children, 38 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
Ruth was a graduate of West High School in Salt Lake City. She lived in several different states while her husband developed his medical career. The family eventually settled in Seattle, WA where they lived for 25 years. They returned to Utah where she has resided since 1973.
Ruth was a devoted member of the LDS church her entire life where she served in many capacities. She and her husband served a mission in the Frankfurt, Germany Temple from 1991-1992. They were also ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple for many years. She loved her work in the Relief Society and her association with Camp Honeybee with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
She loved to work with her hands by sewing, cooking, floral arranging, creating family memory books and much more. Her home was always welcoming and beautiful. She loved music and had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed her association with the Singing Mothers in Seattle, WA and also participating in many ward choirs. She loved to write and was eloquent in her messages.
She always demonstrated a simple pure devotion to the Savior. She devoted a lifetime of noble and willing service to her children and grandchildren and they were the greatest joys of her life. She constantly filled her role as matriarch of her large and growing family. She also displayed endless acts of service and charity to many others.
She missed her husband after his passing in 2003 and has longed to be with him again. What a beautiful reunion she has had with her husband and two sons, Mark and Douglas, who preceded her in death.
Our lives are forever impacted by her timeless grace and dignity.
She is survived by her children Paul (Susan) Taylor, Eagle, ID; James (Annette) Taylor, Perry, UT; Denise Taylor, South Ogden, UT; Stephen (Tamara) Taylor, South Ogden, UT; Margaret (David) Tipton, Elk Ridge, UT; Joseph (Debra) Taylor, Kaysville, UT; Richard (Lea) Taylor, South Ogden, UT; Ann Marie (Glenn) Ostlund, Tempe, AZ; Linda (Kevin) Lott, Tempe, AZ.
A viewing will be held at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the South Ogden 7th Ward Building, 720 Nancy Drive, South Ogden at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior from 9:30 ~ 10:30 a.m.
Interment at Washington Heights Memorial Park.
Her family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring staff at McKay-Dee Hospital and Intermountain Hospice. Published in Deseret News on June 14, 2012.
