Maw died in Vancouver on Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998. He was 83. His wife of 62 years, Ardyth, died in February 1998 and a grandson, Michael, died in 1992. Mr. Maw was born Oct. 28, 1914, in O'Neill, Neb. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a 50-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was also a member of Vancouver Elks Lodge 823 and enjoyed playing pool and golf, fishing and gardening. Mr. Maw was a fan of Blazer basketball and Mariner baseball. Survivors include one daughter, Judy E. Johnson of Vancouver; two sons, Richard M. of Vancouver and Donald L. of Lacey, Wash.; one brother, Vernon of Wenatchee; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The casket will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Association in care of Good Samaritan Hospital, 1015 N.W. 22nd Ave., Portland, OR 97210. Mr. Maw was born Oct. 28, 1914, in O'Neill, Neb., and lived in the Vancouver, Wash., area since 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a carpenter. His wife of 62 years, Ardyth, died in February. Survivors include his sons, Richard M. of Vancouver and Donald L. of Lacey, Wash.; daughter, Judy E.
