JOHN D. FLUELLING John D. Fluelling b. ca. 1834, m. 30AUG1859 Temperance Snell (b. ca. 1840), d/o Jacob P. and Philomena [Philona, Phylona, Filona, Philene] (Weir) Snell. (A Phylona (Snell) Merriam (1850-1947) is buried in Springford Cem., in what was South Norwich Twp.; so that is the most likely spelling.) Donald H. Jeffrey (JAN/FEB1983) sent an extract gathered by his cousin from, North Norfolk County Marriages, which gives the information: J. D. Fluelling, 24, resident of Norwich, born in North Norwich, son of S. B. & L. Fluelling, married Temperance Snell, 19, resident of Norwich, born in North Norwich, daughter of J. P. and Philomena Snell, on 30 Aug., 1859. Paul Snell wrote (10MAY1983) to tell of his correspondence with Donald Jeffery and Dorothy Erickson. He had been researching the Snell family, and found a set of notes in the Norwich Historical Society Archives. Parts of these notes conveyed to me give John's year of birth as 1836, but Jill's investigation of census returns indicates ca. 1834. Jill also states that the census indicates that John was a Quaker. Jill has found references to John D. in the 1861 and 1881 census returns, and in the 1862, 1870 and 1874 directories for South Norwich Twp., oxford Co. In 1862 he held Lot 19 of Concession IX; in 1870, Lot 22 of Conc. XI; in 1874, Lot 15, Conc. X. While John was a Quaker, Temperance and her children were Methodists. Their children were: R34211. ALBERT J. FLUELLING b. ca. 1861, m. 3OCT1888 AUGUSTA SCHULTZ (b. Germany ca. 1867), d/o Charles Schultz. (Tina Kernan, Flewelling GenForum # 167, 16MAR2001, referring to "(GCMR) bk.6 pg.21"; probably Genessee Co. Marriage Records, in Michigan.) R34212. CHARLES FLUELLING b. ca. 1863, living with John M. and Mary Jane Thompson in Dereham Twp. in 1881 R34213. WILLIAM FLUELLING b. ca. 1865 R34214.
