| 1413 | Alvin F. Maw Easley Alvin Franklin Maw, 95, of 502 Anderson Hwy., died on Friday, March 6, 2009 at his home. Born March 5, 1914 in Easley, the son of the late Harleston and Mary Lyda McGaha Maw. Alvin worked for many years with Winn Dixie Stores and several years with Clemson University. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Fair United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He is survived by his brothers, Ansel (Mareldine) Maw of Lincoln, Neb., Lewis (Evon) Maw of Saluda, S.C., Sam (Sylvia) of Spartanburg, S.C.; Dan (Evelyn) Maw of Newberry, S.C., Wayne (Sarah) Maw of Kennesaw, Ga.; a sister, Dorothy Steele of Aiken, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and his friend and very devoted caregiver, Margaret Dunn. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Bertha Connelly Maw; infant triplet daughters, Phyllis Jane, Joyce Ann and Janice Fay Maw, born June 22, 1941; brothers, Adger, Grady, Edward and John; and sister, Mary Elizabeth. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, at Fairview United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Durham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will placed in the church at 1 p.m., Monday prior to the service. Visitation will be held immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In remembrance, memorial contributions may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church, 200 East Church Road, Easley, SC 29642. [Confirmed by Statutory Register.] On her death certificate, she is the widow of Henry Thomson, fisherman. She died on 10 November 1914 at 12 Lindsay Square, Methil, "age 83" [actually 81 if her date of birth in 1833 is correct]. Cause of death was 'senile decay'.
