Comments: Hello - I am working on my Harrison family. I have a Mary Harrison born in 1818 in Yorkshire, England. Her family emigrated to Canada in 1831 and settled in Toronto Gore Township, Peel County. She does not appear with the family in the 1852 census. I have noticed that a Mary Harrison was married to John Maw in 1846 in Etobicoke. Her witness at the wedding was William Harrison. Her father's name was William and she also had a brother by that name. I am wondering if it might be her. Mary was from a Catholic family but John Maw appears to be a Wesleyan - though he said he was "independant" in the 1861 census. I was wondering if you had any information of sponsors at baptisms etc.. with other Harrison names that I could cross reference with her known family to see if she is the Mary I am looking for?
