Jack Thomas Martindale, age 84, of Byron Center, passed away, Saturday, May 4, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Leona Kathryn Martindale (Vroma); his children, Jackie (Jerry) Wormmeester, Gail (Andy) Thorpe, Tom Martindale; his grandchildren, Janay (Kevin) Nienhuis, Justin (Michelle) Wormmeester, Kalee, Keagan and Taylor Thorpe; his great grandchildren, Elle and Macy Nienhuis and Ty Wormmeester; his sisters, Lois Swanagan and Blanche Kelly; and Leona's siblings, Robert (Pat) Vroma, Eugene (Ann) Vroma, Ruth Tol, Rollene Vroma, Maxine Vroma, Gertrude Vroma and Lil Vroma. A private family burial service was held at Winchester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . Leona Martindale (Vroma), age 84, of Byron Center, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, March 30, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Martindale; parents Lena and John Vroma; siblings Gerald, Margaret, Richard, Clarabelle, John, Raymond, Gerrit, Howard.
She is survived by her children Jackie (Jerry) Wormmeester, Gail (Andy) Thorpe, Tom Martindale; grandchildren Janay (Kevin) Nienhuis, Justin (Michelle) Wormmeester, Kalee, Keagan and Taylor Thorpe; her great-grandchildren Elle and Macy Nienhuis and Ty Wormmeester; brothers Robert (Pat) Vroma, Eugene (Ann) Vroma; sister Ruth Tol; sister-in laws Rollene, Maxine, Gertrude and Lil; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held from 10 - 11AM with Funeral service at 11AM Friday, April 3, 2015 at Cook Funeral Home - 2067 84th St, Byron Center, MI. Son-in-laws Andrew Thorpe and Jerry Wormmeester will be officiating. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Trillium Woods for their loving care. In honor of Leona, contributions may be made to Faith Hospice - Trillium Woods.
