    Barbara Harvey Mawe was born circa 1847 at Donnybrook, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Mawe and Jane Meadows.1,2 She married Thomas Bernard Odell, son of Edward Stacpoole Odell and Maria Bernard, in 1866.1

    Description: I am convinced that the Dr Thomas Mawe referred to was Assistant Surgeon Thomas Mawe, 12 Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry, who died at Munnespore on 28 June 1857. Dr Mawe's death is described by Captain P G Scot also of the 12 Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry, in his personal narrative "Escape from Nowgong to Banda and Nagode".

    The Bombay Times, 11 August 1858 makes the following mention:

    MRS JANE MAWE, widow of assistant Surgeon Thomas Mawe, who died at Munnespore on 28 June 1857, 60 L and each of her seven children 5L 15s 6d per annum each. 100L 8S 6D

    Finally, there is mentionj of a sister (she is referred to as Margaret in this very website), to whom he sent five letters (also noted in this website and referenced to the National ref Mss Eur Photo Eur 69 1855-1857). The important point is Thomas Mawe's years of birth and death are noted as: 1816-1857.
