    Obituary:
    Martin Richmond Maw
    July 21, 1975 — January 15, 2023
    Logan, UT
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Martin "Marty" Richmond Maw, 47, of Logan, Utah on January 15, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Marty was born on July 21, 1975 in Logan, Utah to Glen and Cindy Maw. Marty was the fourth of five children.

From an early age Marty developed a love for the outdoors. He was happiest when he had opportunities to spend time camping, snowboarding, mountain biking, and just being outdoors. Marty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He developed a true love for his Heavenly Father and felt closest to Him on a mountain top or sitting next to a glowing campfire.

Marty also enjoyed anything with a motor, including dirt bikes, Harley's, snow machines, four wheelers and lately his treasured gold Ford F150 truck. Those who know Marty know he kept everything he owns shining and in pristine condition.

Marty was always quick to lend a helping hand. While he was helping a friend move a piano to Idaho, he met the love of his life, Cortnie. They instantly knew there was something there and a short time later were married on August 23, 2003 in Blackfoot, Idaho. Two years later, they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Ellia and Luke. They were the absolute light of Marty's life. He truly cherished the ground they walked on.

Marty never met a stranger and was the life of the party. If he knew you, he loved you, and there was no doubt he did. Marty was a giant kid at heart and adored his nieces and nephews. They absolutely adored him and he returned their love.

Marty is survived by his wife, Cortnie Maw; daughter, Ellia Maw; son, Luke Maw; mother, Cynthia Maw; siblings, Kevin Maw (Kimberly), Kari Beazer (David), Lisa Hedin (Mark) and Andy Maw (Jaime); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Harold Maw.

An Open House Memorial will take place on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Spring Creek Ward, 2394 West 2200 South, College Ward. A funeral will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 12:00 PM, with a viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, also at the church. Interment at the Wellsville Cemetery.

    Obituary:
    Glen Harold Maw
    December 15, 1939 - September 5, 2016

Glen Harold Maw, 76 years, was called back to his heavenly home Monday, Sept. 5, 2016. He died peacefully in his sleep. His wonderful spirit and tender heart will be immeasurably missed by so many.
He was born Dec. 15, 1939, in Washington, D.C., to Afton Powell and Harold Lewis Maw. He was their beautiful firstborn.
His wife, Cynthia Joy Richmond Maw, and their loving and precious family of three valiant sons and two amazing daughters and those who have married into the family, like to think of Glen, their beloved husband and dad, in his many roles, stewardships and callings. He is also a devoted brother, uncle, "Poppie," gifted teacher, professor, mentor, friend, lover of nature, "Captain Sunshine" and disciple.
In his early years, his family moved to the Ogden area and a few years later to Salt Lake City. For many years in his youth he was a diligent newspaper carrier. He was educated in Salt Lake schools, having been elected editor of the school newspaper in junior high. At East High he was manager of the football team, a stellar member of the wrestling team at 98 pounds and a member of mixed chorus. He attended and graduated from LDS Seminary. He was an Eagle Scout.
He attended the University of Utah, where he was schooled for three years as an engineering/chemistry student before he served for two and a half years in his beloved Norway as an LDS missionary. He met his sweetheart, Cindy, at a church dance. After his mission they became eternal companions. They were married and sealed together in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Sept. 20, 1963.
He finished his last year at UofU, and in February 1964, they moved to University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana for graduate work. He changed his field of study from engineering to counseling psychology, where he earned his Ph.D. Glen and Cindy gave birth to their first two adorable children in Illinois. They returned to Logan, Utah, where Glen was hired at Utah State University in the Student Services Department. He worked in the Counseling Center and as an adjunct professor of psychology ... and three more babies arrived. He later was able to create and direct the Career Development Center. He also created a career class and wrote a wonderful text/workbook to assist students in learning about themselves and how they could fit into the world of work successfully. He coined the phrase "fogwalking," which basically means trusting in the process of going forward in life, especially in challenging times, a few steps at a time, gathering information, sorting through it, making some decisions that seem correct until the "fog" lifts to take a few more steps. Poppie Dear, your family is doing their best to fogwalk now into the future without your warmth, wisdom and humor. We love and need your spirit very much. After 35 years, Glen retired to a different phase of his life.
Glen enjoyed music of many genres, "Man of La Mancha," gardening, reading, writing poems and prose, serving and inspiring others, snow skiing, backpacking with the Scouts and sons and making raspberry jam. He loved going on motorcycle rides. He was fervent about coaching softball and soccer.
He has dealt with Parkinson's disease for 16 years with courage and grace, supported by his loved ones and special friends. In the last few years he has not had the ability to be as physically active, but he so enjoyed his wonderful grandchildren playing around his home on a regular basis. That was a great joy to him.
He has served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all his life, participating in several bishoprics, as a gospel teacher and with young adults.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy, his five children and their spouses Kevin Maw (Kimberly), Kari Beazer (David), Lisa Higley, Marty Maw (Cortnie) and Andy Maw (Jaime), five siblings and their spouses and his wife's sister, and many nieces and nephews. He has 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law and two brothers in law.
All funeral services will be held at the Mount Logan Stake Center at 565 E. 100 South, Logan, on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at 1 p.m. with a viewing taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, there will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mount Logan Stake Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery following the service. Obituary:
    Birth: May 13, 1915 Death: Jan. 25, 2008
    Afton P. Maw 1915 ~ 2008
Enjoying Sweet Reunions On January 25, this world lost one of its most valiant. Afton Powell Maw passed away following a short illness due to conditions related to age. She was approaching 93. Afton was born May 13, 1915 in Salt Lake City to Ireta Miller and Thomas Winter Powell Jr. She has only one younger sister (Beth P. Alder). The girls were 12 and 7 when they lost their father. Nine years later they also lost their mother to auto accident related injuries. Thereafter, Afton and Beth tenderly relied upon each other and forged a very special lifetime relationship. Afton met her loving husband, Harold L. Maw, who swept her off her feet. Their eternal companionship began November 26, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised six children. Glen (Cindy), Marybeth (the late Leigh Cannon), Gilbert (Jenny), Blaine (Jeanne), Evan (Laurie), and Arlen (Debra Brandon). She is "grandma" to 21, and 27 great grandchildren affectionately call her "GG". She and Harold had many wonderful travel adventures together, but in July 2001, he suddenly traveled on alone leaving her a widow. Afton had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and put that into action through service in primary, scouting, missionary and temple assignments. She was compassionate, soft spoken, even tempered, non-complaining and a loving wife and mother who was always concerned about serving others and never herself. She had a great appreciation for life's blessings, never wasted anything useful and was satisfied with simple things. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and all the "SMILE"s she gave away. Her influence has touched the lives of countless and her memory will inspire generations. She is loved and will be missed greatly. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Colonial Hills 2nd Ward, 1455 South 1700 East in Salt Lake City at 11:00 a.m. A ing will be held on Thursday evening, January 31, from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Afton P. Maw 1915 ~ 2008
    Enjoying Sweet Reunions

On January 25, this world lost one of its most valiant. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, January 31, from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.holbrookmortuary.com
