Maw, age 87, passed away April 3, 1999 in Salt Lake City. Born Feb. 19, 1912 in Salt Lake City to Robert Maw Jr. and Mary Victoria Johnson. Married Rhea Boyce in the Salt Lake LDS Temple May 3, 1935. C.L.U. for Equitable Life Assurance Society where he worked for 70 years. He was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and held many positions including Bishop of the 18th Ward for 10 years. Member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers and the Ensign Peak Commemorative Committee. Earl was a man of great integrity who loved knowledge and devoted his life to serving others. He loved life and enjoyed people, music, books, the outdoors and athletic activities. He was a kind and generous man who will be missed by all who knew him.

Survived by: wife; children: Robert (Helene) Maw of Kamas, UT; J. Stephan (Grace) Maw of Brea, CA; Bruce (Carol) Maw of SLC; Carolyn (Charles) Morgan of St. Louis, MO; Roger (Sylvia) Maw of SLC; Susan (Michael) Mackintosh of Mesa, AZ; George (Suzanne) Maw of SLC; Christine Calder (Carlton Ensign) of SLC; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Clarence Maw, Lois Maw, Harold Maw, Ruth Taylor, and Ivan Maw. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 6th, at 1 p.m. in the LDS 18th Ward Chapel, 135 "A" Street. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East So. Temple, Monday 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church, Tuesday, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery. Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - November 3, 2002. Deceased Name: Rhea Boyce Maw. Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002. Born in Granite, Utah on Sept. 28, 1910, Rhea was the second of six children born to Ira John Boyce and Pearl Elizabeth Mitchell. She graduated from LDS High School and LDS Business college.
On May 3, 1935, she married Earl L. Maw and began her life long career as homemaker and loving mother to eight children. She served many callings in the LDS church. She had a great talent for, and love of, music, art, gardening and handiwork. She will be remembered for her generous and compassionate nature, her nurturing spirit and gracious demeanor.

Survived by children Robert, John, Bruce, Carolyn (Morgan), Roger, Susan (Mackintosh), George and Christine (Calder); brother Alma Boyce; sisters Marjory Fullmer and Norma Rassmussen; 29 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband Earl Maw, brother John Boyce and sister Elizabeth Richins. Family and friends may call Sunday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service at 12 noon on Monday, Nov. 4, 2002 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple.
