    Obituary:
    August 25, 1927 – July 22, 2021

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Glen Maw, husband, father, grampa, great grampa, brother and friend to many on July 22, 2021 in Armstrong at the age of 93. Dad was born to Ruby & Arthur Maw on August 25, 1927 in the Armstrong Hospital. He was the oldest of his 3 siblings Meryl, Arthur & Margaret.

Dad grew up on the family farm on Maw Road where the family resided. At an early age he learned to enjoy the outdoors where he learned to hunt, trap and fish and that all became his passion. Dad loved his younger brother and 2 sisters. He also enjoyed farming and helping look after the orchard, dairy cows, apiary and logging with horses and at a later age became a logging contractor for Armstrong Sawmill, which is where he spent a majority of his life logging until his mid '50s. Dad thought he could be helping out on the family farm to help his dad in the orchard, but in 1949-50 after a bitter winter that desecrated the orchards through the Okanagan Valley there was no work for anyone so Dad left that year and he drove a Cat tractor building roads for a mining outfit in West Kootenay's. On September 20, 1958 dad married the love of his life Viva McGhee in Vernon, BC. They settled on their farm on Salmon River Road where they raised 3 boys Gordon, William and David.

Dad lived his life to the fullest always keeping busy as he was an avid gardener as well, growing the best, biggest squash and delicious cantaloupe and all the other good stuff! He and mom made a trip to Alaska which was a highlight for both of them, and of course many, many hunting trips which includes to Wyoming and Kootenays with various people, that is where there were a lot of interesting stories after all those trips! In 1995 Mom & Dad purchased his family farm on Maw Road from Arthur Jr. when he passed away, where with the help of his son William, they farmed and logged on the property and continued on with the orchard. Dad was always happy on his tractor or cruising around on his ATV with his rifle strapped on his back or a crow bar to dig fence post holes!! And you would always see a smile as soon as he was on the seat of his D6 Catt!! Mom & Dad also enjoyed going down to the local A & W and solve all the problems of the world over a couple cups of coffee usually 3-5 times a week! They both enjoyed the group of people who would join them!! Dad was a life member for the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Dept and also a Life member for the Armstrong Fish & Game Club.

In 2016 they sold the farm on Maw Road and just farmed his own property and then in 2018 due to health reasons sold their homestead to Harley their grandson and moved into Heaton Place where they resided until February of 2021, then eventually to Pleasant Valley Manor where they resided to present.

Dad always had a great story to tell and interesting ones at that up until the last few days of his life! People called him a "Legend" He was so LOVED!

Dad is survived by his loving wife Viva of 63 years, Son William (Leanne) their children Jason (Brie), Harley, Angela (Paul), and Meaghan and 8 great grandchildren. Son David (Ruth) and their children Rachel, Ruby & April and his only remaining sister Margaret Duguay of Seattle, WA. and nieces & nephews and many, many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Ruby & Arthur Maw, son Gordon, sister Meryl Drew and brother Art Maw.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heaton Place for all the care that was given to him the 2 years they resided there and also to the staff at Noric House for his short stay there as well. Also, to the wonderful staff at Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong! It was truly amazing, the love and compassionate care that was given to him during his stay there!

Dad leaves behind a rich legacy that will never be forgotten!

WE LOVE YOU AND WILL BE MISSED "DEARLY"

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10:00am at Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services in Armstrong. Burial to follow at the Armstrong/Spallumcheen Cemetery.
