    Obituary:
Clayton Hiram Maw, 82, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on April 1, 2008, at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tappen with Rev. Carl Lindemann officiating. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, Tappen.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck and from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday at Eastgate Steele Memorial Chapel where a prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

He was born in Jamestown, ND, on January 19, 1926, the son Ira and Hulda (Sonnenberg) Maw. He was raised on a farm north of Tappen and attended country school in rural Tappen. On October 29, 1950, he married his lifelong partner, Lorraine Oster. Together they farmed north of Tappen until 1994. Due to Clayton's failing health they moved to Bismarck where he resided until entering the Golden Manor Nursing Home, Steele, in July 2003.

Clayton was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tappen, where he served on the church council for many years. He was also a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Bismarck. He served on the board for Tappen Oil Company, Tappen Public School, Soil Conservation Service and BEK Communications.

Clayton's friendly and happy-go-lucky personality was very apparent in time spent with family and friends. He loved farming and working on machinery, and was always willing to help a neighbor. He had a passion for airplanes and flying, hunting, taking home movies, reading and traveling. He was interested in almost everything and never hesitated to ask anyone questions.

Clayton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine; three daughters, Linda Patzner, Bismarck, ND, Lois (Lambert) Gill, Chesterfield, VA, and Kathie (Joe) Holmgren, Lisbon, ND; nine grandchildren, Brian (Tracy) Patzner, Brad Patzner, Jennifer Gill (Sonny) Richardson, Kristine Gill, Patty Gill (Stephen) Casey, Jody Gill, Scot (Jana) Wick, Rebecca Wick, Rachel Wick (Barry) Fernow and ten great-grandchildren, Tristan and Taylee Patzner, Alyssa and Grayson Richardson, Jaden and Kyndra Casey, Alex and Riley Fernow and Emily and Morgan Traxler; one brother, Quincy (Caroline) Maw; two sisters, Ruth Rangeloff and Elva Haugen; his very special friend, Jake Redinger; brothers-in-law, Harry Oster, Art (Jeanette) Oster, Vernon (Linda) Oster; sisters-in-law, Delores (Leo) Dockter, Shirley (Glenn) Schulz and Deb (Randy) Diede and many nieces and nephews.
